• Arrange, supervise and conduct assessments and other relevant apprentice examinations/tests
  • Assist apprentices in the collection, presentation and recording/uploading of ‘evidence’ of skills and knowledge as required by their learning programme
  • Generate and maintain appropriate apprentice and other records, assessment and test results, data and statistics
  • Monitor & review apprentices progress, attendance and punctuality and assist course tutors/internal verifiers/training co-ordinators by providing reports
  • Assist when necessary, in the recruitment of new apprentices including interviewing, marketing & induction which may include attendance at some evening events
  • Design and deliver learning opportunities to optimise learning and achievement for each student
  • Instruct apprentices in relevant core and underpinning knowledge and techniques
  • Seek evidence that learning has taken place, review each learning opportunity for effectiveness and take appropriate action to improve the learning opportunity
  • Liaise with employers to ensure the understanding and support of the apprentices in their workplace
  • Identify and follow up ‘at risk’ apprentices and where necessary make referrals to specialist support services
  • Assist in the development of individual learning plans and set appropriate targets for apprentices throughout their programme
  • Contribute to the review of the quality of the provision and the implementation of any changes through liaison with curriculum staff and managers
  • Ensure CPD and knowledge of standards/requirements and occupational competence is updated on a regular basis
  • An IQA qualification would be preferable but training can be given – Monitor, review and evaluate the quality of assessment processes and practices as well as ensuring all quality paperwork is completed correctly
  • Attend team meetings, IQA and standardisation meetings as required

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES /SKILLS

BEHAVIOURAL SKILLS

Essential:-

· D32, D33, A1 or TAQA awards or equivalent

· Basic Health & Safety Certificate or willingness to work towards

· Extensive vocational experience in the subject area; or relevant previous experience as a Vocational Trainer/Assessor

· Advanced apprenticeship or equivalent Level 3 qualification in a relevant vocational area

· Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy or equivalent

· Use of a car and clean driving licence essential.

Desirable:-

· Use on electronic portfolio system

· D34 or V1 awards or equivalent

· Cert. Ed. or other recognised teaching qualification

· Previous experience in Workbased Learning, Further Education or similar environment

· Experience of managing a portfolio of learners

Essential

· Skills and knowledge of specific industry sector

· IT literate, including use of Office and electronic portfolios

· Excellent administrative skills

· Strong time management and organisational skills
