MIS Manager

Dovetail and Slate are recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider based in Wigan who are looking to interview soon.

You will play a lead role in the planning, development and implementation of a centrally based College MI system, developing the analytical services of learner information and data.

Main Duties

  • To enhance and support, a Management Information System based on Tribal EBS software, incorporating such development and maintenance of the software in order to meet the College’s need.
  • To develop and facilitate relevant training in Management Information
  • Systems for staff within the College.
  • To lead on the development of the College Management Information Systems ensuring appropriate access to users to carry out their roles effectively.
  • To be responsible for the development, maintenance and implementation of student information systems allowing the tracking of progress, recording of tutorials, work experience and monitoring performance.
  • To be responsible for the maintenance and implementation of the College VLE ensuring systems set up meets the requirements of the College.
  • To support and mentor the MIS team distributing work accordingly.
  • To lead the development of a set of data marts and data warehouse tables which underpin reporting and the college dashboard.
  • To provide advice and support for users of the Management Information Systems on a day to day basis.
  • To use appropriate report writing software to provide the statistics/reports required both internal and external to the College.
  • To assist in the testing and implementation of any upgrades to the software as the need arises.
  • To work in close collaboration with all users of the MI systems and processes.
  • To support the production and submission of external funding and statistical returns for external agencies/funding bodies as required.
  • To implement data integrity checks to ensure accuracy and reliability of reports and returns for funding bodies.
  • To develop and maintain excellent working knowledge of all appropriate funding rules and updates to methodologies and audit guidance.

Role Objectives

  • You will play a lead role in the planning, development and implementation of a centrally based College MI system, developing the analytical services of learner information and data.
  • Maintain and improve processes to ensure that College data reflects actual activity and evidence is collected and stored appropriately in preparation for audit.
  • Ensure timely and accurate provision of data that supports collection and analysis of key performance indicators.
  • Support timely and accurate returns to College stakeholders ensuring the
  • College is compliant with funding rules and regulations.
  • To work with the Data/Funding team to ensure business processes are reviewed and developed and best use of the Colleges MIS system is adopted.
  • To act as a role model for the MIS team.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of current funding rules and methodologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of SQL Server database technology
  • Experience of developing reports against relational databases
  • Working knowledge of the Tribal EBS system
  • Experience with T-SQL and the development of database objects such as views, functions, stored procedures and triggers.
  • Experience of analysing, manipulating and presenting data using Excel
  • High level of competence in the use of MIS software within a Further
  • Education College environment
  • Analysing and reporting data from a relational database
  • Presenting and manipulating data using Microsoft Office
  • Supporting MIS systems
  • Developing on a SQL Server platform using T-SQL
  • Effective communication skills
