IT Support Engineer

Dovetail and Slate are recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider based in Taunton.

Role Purpose

We are looking for a Software Engineer, driving our agile development forward. With commercial experience or a post-grad in Software Engineering, you’re invited to shape our journey.

As a key team member, you’ll oversee the application lifecycle, from design to deployment in our Azure framework. Work with cutting-edge Microsoft Technologies like .Net 8 (C#) and Azure SQL, alongside serverless functions and MVC.

Within our DevOps team, gain insights into Continuous Integration and Deployment. Be part of pioneering projects, including AI Solutions, while advancing your career with support for Microsoft Certifications. Your growth matters as we explore new horizons together.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse user requirements, design, research, write, test, and document software solutions to professional standards.
  • Develop middleware solutions (console applications, azure functions) to integrate different systems utilised by the organisation.
  • Participate in collaborative development practices within the team to produce robust, maintainable, and resilient solutions.
  • Fault find and debug existing / legacy software.
  • Implement appropriate security processes/protections against common and contemporary vulnerabilities in source code and artefacts.
  • Liaise with and provide advice, support, training, and guidance to users.
  • Clearly and regularly communicate with development and technical support colleagues
  • Maintain and develop new automated processes where possible to create efficiencies across the College
  • Assist in the designing and deploying web-based datasets, dashboards, and interactive reports

Requirements

  • Have a degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) and/or 2+ years of commercial experience
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft .NET development stack (Visual Studio, C#, SQL, IIS)
  • Knowledge and experience of current web design technologies such as, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and jQuery
  • Knowledge and experience of Microsoft ASP.NET MVC web development
  • Experience of troubleshooting
  • Able to work well within a team
  • Able to work independently, be responsible and able to use own initiative
