Safeguarding Coordinator

Dovetail and Slate are recruiting on behalf of a leading education provider based in Newbury.

Please note this role requires an ASAP start!

Role Purpose

  • To support the Safeguarding Officer in ensuring all students are kept safe and being nurtured in line with the Keeping Children Safe in Education and Prevent Strategy statutory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Safeguarding Office in undertaken their duties.
  • Act as a safe person for learners to contact who feel under threat from other learners or college users or who may be experiencing difficulties.
  • Support the Safeguarding Officer in implementing the safeguarding quality improvement actions as outlined in the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP)
  • Support all students by working closely with relevant curriculum operational managers and leaders.
  • Have a daily visible presence at the beginning and end of learners’ programmes of study and during breaks.
  • Ensure that records and documents are updated, monitored, and tracked effectively in accordance with college procedures and policies.
  • Ensure that records and documents are being maintained in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education expectations, as directed by the Safeguarding Officer, Head of Student Support and High Needs Funding or Vice Principal, Students and Curriculum.

Requirements

  • Experience of working within a safeguarding role at a high level.
  • Experience of working in an educational environment.
  • Ability to establish, sustain and disengage from relationships with clients.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality, child protection, data protection and anti-discriminatory /oppressive practice.
  • Ability to work effectively on own initiative without close supervision and manage own workload.
